A kind gesture from North East knitters!

Knitters from ‘Tiny Tots Micro Hats’ Group have come together to make some beautiful hand made items to donate to Love, Amelia and the families we support.

Hats for premature and newborn babies have been lovingly made alongside matching booties and cardigans to make the perfect additions to the bundles we donate to families.

Bonding squares have been carefully made in pairs to help a Mother bond with her newborn baby when they have been separated after birth. One square is placed with a premature baby and another is worn against the mum’s skin, then the squares are swapped round every 12 hours or every time mum visits. Many Neonatal Units are now using them. They help with the bonding of a premature baby in an incubator and the baby’s mum.

These beautiful handmade items are a very welcome addition to our bundles and we know families will love them as much as we do.  Thank You.

If you or someone you know likes to knit and wants to donate to our Baby Bank, you can send items to us directly at;

The 2.6 Challenge – Thank You!

The 2.6 Challenge - Thank You!

We want to share a huge thank you to our home heroes who took part in the 2.6 Challenge and to everyone who donated to Love, Amelia.  Our target of raising £260 was quickly met and in total a fantastic £548 was raised!  This is an amazing amount raised.

We have been able use the funds to purchase new items for families we support including pyjamas, vests and lots of brand new underwear – our local children are going to feel PANT-tastic!

You can still donate to our JustGiving page and help us to continue to provide items to families.

Thank you again to everyone, you truly are amazing

We are taking on the 2.6 Challenge

Are you up to a challenge? We’re inviting you, your family and friends to take part in The 2.6 Challenge from Sunday 26 April to help to save the UK’s charities.

The Covid-19 pandemic has had a devastating effect on charities, with the cancellation of thousands of events and the loss of billions in fundraising income.

In response, the organisers of the biggest mass-participation sports events across the country have come together to create a new campaign to raise vital funds to help to save the UK’s charities.

The 2.6 Challenge will launch on Sunday 26 April – what should have been the date of the 40th London Marathon, the world’s biggest one-day annual fundraising event.

We’re asking you to take part in an activity of your choice based around the numbers 2.6 or 26 and fundraise or donate to support Love, Amelia

People of all ages are taking on The 2.6 Challenge with a host of activities – from walking, running or cycling 2.6 miles, juggling for 2.6 minutes, to holding online workouts with 26 friends. The ideas and options are endless!

The only requirement is that you must follow Government guidelines on exercise and social distancing. Most people are taking part from Sunday 26 April but you can do your activity whenever is most convenient for you.

There are just five simple steps to take:

  1. Dream up your 2.6 challenge – if you need help there are lots of ideas here as well as some activities to help you prepare for your challenge
  2. Head to to donate £26 – or whatever you can afford – or to set up a fundraising page
  3. Ask all your friends and family to sponsor you and challenge them to do their own 2.6 Challenge
  4. Complete your challenge
  5. Share a photo or video of your challenge on social media with #TwoPointSixChallenge

For further information on The 2.6 Challenge, including a list of partners and supporters, and for more ideas about what your activity could be, visit

We hope you’ll join the nation in The 2.6 Challenge to support  Love, Amelia and help to save the UK’s charities.

Love to Mum – Mother’s Day 2020

Thank you to everyone who donated items to gift to Mum’s across Sunderland on Mother’s Day. We hope they were able to give Mum’s a little boost and acknowledge them for the amazing job they do.

We were able to give 28 gift sets out which contained a mini pamper pack and a handwritten card to our local Mum’s. We hope they will use this to indulge themselves a little, but most of all we hope these gifts symbolise the support available in our community and to know they are not alone. We want to share the love to parents who work so hard every day to support their family.

We support Mums from many backgrounds who are facing very difficult situations – single parents on a low income, fleeing domestic abuse, violence and war, being unable to work due to illness or disability whilst raising a family, becoming a new Mum or being a young Mum and Mums who has fallen below the poverty line due to unexpected circumstances; the list goes on. Regardless of their situation, they are all Mum’s trying to do the best for their family and deserve a little boost and a helping hand.

We have had some very touching feedback from our Mums and referral partners –

Seeing the look on Mums face when I delivered her gift was amazing. Her boy was so proud to be able to give his Mum a present as a thank you for everything she does. She was overwhelmed that a stranger would think of her, and other Mums in similar situations and give them a present. She needed a boost so this has come a the perfect time. It is such a lovely project, thank you.

Being a single Mam to a 2 year old and 8 month old I thought the only Mother’s Day present I would have would be one I bought myself.I don’t have anyone to help me and no spare money to buy myself anything, so getting this gift meant the world to me.I cant thank you enough. This is the first Mother’s Day present I have ever had

We want to thank everyone who has donated items and our lovely volunteers who worked hard, putting the packs together. We also want to thank our referral partners who provide support to the Mums on their caseload and collected and delivered their gifts.
